2134 Square-spot Rustic - Xestia xanthographa.

Trapped - Melbourne, Derbyshire.
A common and widely distributed species in Derbyshire. Found throughout the county but another species which is found in larger numbers in the southern lowland areas of the Trent Valley. The pale, or pale-outlined, square shaped kidney mark is the main conspicuous identification feature. The forewing colour can very considerably as can be seen from the photos below.
On the wing July to late September.

Food plant - A wide range of grasses and also Herbaceous plants including plantains.
