2139 Red Chestnut - Cerastis rubricosa.

Trapped - Foremark Reservoir, Derbyshire.
A widely distributed species in Derbyshire but only locally common. Regarded as present in all areas of the county, but considered to be only a common moth at a few sites in the southern lowland areas. It is generally more common in the higher ground of north Derbyshire.
On the wing late February - April.

Food plant - A range of herbaceous and woody plants.
