Trapped - Melbourne, Derbyshire.
One of the most numerous of spring flying moths. A very variable species in colour, the darker form is predominant in Derbyshire. Common in both urban and rural areas of the county.
On the wing from Early March - May.

Food plant - A wide range of broad-leaved trees but mainly oaks and sallows.
