ABOUT

2237 Grey Shoulder-knot - Lithophane ornitopus.

Trapped - Foremark Reservoir, Derbyshire - 15th March 2004.
This specimen, although slightly worn on top of the thorax, to my knowledge represents the 3rd modern day Derbyshire record. It was possibly a former resident in the county during 1910-1919. Note the black “Antler” shaped markings at the base of the forewings which distinguish this species from Blair’s Shoulder-knot and Grey Chi. On the wing from September - November, reappearing February - April.

Food plant - Pendunculate Oak, probably also Sessile Oak and Turkey Oak..
