15 Orange Swift Hepialus hecta

Trapped -Kings Newton, Melbourne, Derbyshire - 27th September 2003.
A widely distributed and common species throughout Derbyshire. Seems to come to light rather early in the evening. As with all the Hepialidae species, the female is larger in size than the male. The left photo shows a male and the right photo shows a female. On the wing from July to early September.

Food Plant - Roots of herbaceous plants including Dandelion, Bracken, Broad-leaved Dock
