ABOUT

1876 Small Yellow Wave - Hydrelia flammeolaria.

Trapped - Kings Newton, Melbourne, Derbyshire July 2005
.

Classed as an uncommon and locally distributed species in Derbyshire. It appears to survive as small relict populations in remnants of old woodland scattered across the southern, central and eastern regions of the county. According to Derbyshire Moths 1986 (Harrison & Sterling) only 33 specimens had been trapped in the previous 25 years. It appears to be still a scarce species.
On the wing from June - late July.

Food plant - Field Maple, Sycamore and Alder.
