Widely distributed and fairly common locally in lowland region of Derbyshire. The largest populations seem to be confined to the ancient woodland sites south of the Trent Valley. It is also established in the Derwent Valley but seems to be scarce or absent from the upland areas of the Peak District despite vast areas of the food plant being present. On the wing from May - June

Food plant - Downy and Silver Birch. Sometimes Alder.
