ABOUT

2231 Deep-brown Dart - Aporophyla lutulenta.

Trapped - Newall, Derbyshire October 3rd 2005
. A Pair in the right photograph.

Current status in Derbyshire is unknown but thought to be very rare as cannot find any modern day records. Butterflies & Moths of Derbyshire 1986 describes the species as, a possible vagrant, origin likely to be from the Sherwood Forest area of Nottinghamshire due to the location of singletons trapped in the 60‘s & 70‘s in the Shipley area of Derbyshire. The 3 specimens trapped on the evening of 2nd/3rd October 2005 in Newall, may indicate that a small colony is in Bretby Park ?
On the wing from September - October.

Food plant - A wide range of woody herbaceous plants and grasses.
