2298 Svensson’s Copper Underwing - Amphipyra berbera svenssoni.

Trapped - Melbourne, Derbyshire July 2004
.

A widely distributed species in Derbyshire. Prior to 1970, very few records from the county. Possibly due to it’s similarity to Copper Underwing, was it overlooked? There has been a steady increase in records since and it is now recognised as a fairly common species at woodland sites scattered widely throughout the county. On the wing from Late -July to mid- September.

Food plant - Limes, Hornbeam, willows, Pendunculate Oak and even Rhododendrons
