2397 Small Yellow Underwing - Panemeria tenebrata.
Netted - Foremark Reservoir, Derbyshire 4th June 2006. A local species in Derbyshire and appears to be recorded only regularly from a few scattered localities in the North East and Central areas of the county. A small colony was found at Foremark, by Neil Topliss, on 4th June 2006. Despite being described as locally common in the Trent Valley, there appears to be no records of this species noted in any of the Derbyshire Entomological Journals from South Derbyshire. Therefore the discovery of the species at Foremark, may well represent the first modern day South Derbyshire record. This tiny little macro moth flies in sunshine, feeding at flowers and does not appear at light traps, therefore it may well be overlooked. On the wing from late May - early June.
Food plant - Common Mouse-ear & Filed Mouse-ear.
