ABOUT

1632 Pale Eggar - Trichiura crataegi.

Trapped - Melbourne, South Derbyshire - 16th August 2006.

Although described in Harrison & Sterling - Butterflies & Moths of Derbyshire Part 2, as widely distributed in Southern Derbyshire, this is the first record I know of in the past 4-5 years. I believe that this species is now very scarce & local in the Trent Valley area of the county. However there seems to be no shortage of the food plant, birches, hawthorns and Blackthorn.
On the wing mainly during August - September.

Food plant - Birches, hawthorns & Blackthorn.
