2137 Great Brocade - Eurois occulata. This species is more likely to be an immigrant than a scarce resident in Derbyshire. During the period from 1968 - 1986 a total of 14 specimens were recorded, all singles and all at light traps. Most records were from the Matlock and district area. This may indicate that a small population at very low density may have existed, or more likely the case, a scattering of migrants arriving on ideal weather conditions.
During the 1990‘s singles seemed to be recorded during the period August - September, again indicating further migrant activity with no records during the period 2000 - 2006. However during the week of 20th August 2007 a large influx arrived across central England, during a ridge of high pressure with easterly winds. Several specimens were trapped in Derbyshire, including this one from Darley Dale, again within the Matlock district area !! On the wing during mid-July - early September.
