1931 Peppered Moth - Biston betularia.

Trapped - Kings Newton, Melbourne, Derbyshire.
Widely distributed throughout Derbyshire, being fairly common in the Trent Valley of South Derbyshire and the Eastern coal measures. The right hand photo pictures the melanic form f.carbonaria Jordan.
On the wing from early May - late August.


Food plant - A wide range of broadleaved trees, shrubs and small plants such as Bramble, Goldenrod, Broom and Rose.
