1934 Dotted Border - Agriopis marginaria.

Trapped - Melbourne, Derbyshire -1st March 2004.

Generally locally common and widely distributed in Derbyshire. The species is usually associated with older woodland and areas where hedgerows are frequent. This was an unexpected find in my garden. Can easily be identified by the small black dots that border the edges of the fore & hind wings.
On the wing from January to April.

Food plant - A wide range of broadleaved trees, shrubs.
