1981 Poplar Hawkmoth - Laothoe populi.

Trapped - Melbourne, Derbyshire - August 2002.

This hawk-moth is common and well distributed throughout Derbyshire. Largest numbers occur in the Trent Valley. This specimen is probably a second generation.
On the wing from May-July sometimes to early August. Sometimes second brood Aug-Sept.

Food plant -Poplars including Aspen, also sallows & willows.
