STATUS First recorded in Britain in 2002, now a common species across Britain devastating the Horse Chestnut trees that the larva feed on.

ID POINTERS – A Leaf-miner – A dark reddish-brown coloured forewing with 3 white cross-bands bordered with black and a short white basal streak. This Leaf-miner causes serious defoliation, and is recognisable by multiple brown blotches which can cover a whole leaf, and subsequently the whole tree. The photograph of the Mine is on Aesculus hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut). Can also be found on Aesculus carnea (Red Horse Chestnut), Acer pseudoplatanus (Sycamore) and Acer platanoides (Norway Maple).

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing mostly during the day – May to October
