STATUS Common in woodland areas across the county

ID POINTERS – Quite distinctive. Forewings are a pale orange-brown or reddish-brown, with chequered markings like tiny tiles (hence its name). Several cross-bands of light and dark orange brown and pale orange-brown. Intensity in colour can vary.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing during July – August
