STATUS Common in the lowland areas of the county wherever there is Hawthorn.

ID POINTERS – Another bird dropping mimic. The basal two thirds of the forewing is dark brown or yellowish-brown, mixed with bluish-grey with a brown, sometimes yellow, scale tuft at base of head. The remaining third of forewing is a creamy white mottled with silvery grey and greyish-brown

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing during May – August
