Crambidae – Spilomelinae – Palpita vitrealis – Olive-tree Pearl or Jasmine Moth

STATUSA rare migrant species. Only 5 records to September 2020, two of which I’ve trapped in my garden, 3rd Nov 2005 & 10th-11th September 2020.

The 6th Derbyshire record was discovered by Bryan Barnacle in his garden moth trap at Froggatt on 16th September 2020.

ID POINTERS – The wings are translucent white with a purplish hue and with a yellowish-brown border to the costa. 

FLIGHT PERIOD – Usually occurs during August – October
