The RSPB Reserve at Frampton Marshes in Lincolnshire is a great place to observe migrating waders. To-day was not exception with 18 species being seen in just a few hours. Not to mention the variety of other marshland birds with plenty of spring migrants on offer.
My favourite spring waders were at this reserve, Temminck’s Stint and Wood Sandpiper. Also a summer plumaged Curlew Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank and Little Stint. Many of the common waders were in good numbers with at least 200 Ringed Plover and a 100 Dunlin. Several Whimbrel and Grey Plover, with at least 10 summer plumaged male Ruff scattered around the reserve pools.
Also Corn Bunting was added to my list of year ticks.
The Year List has now hit 204.
