A day of mixed weather, cold wind, April showers and warm sunshine, when the sun was out! Spring migrants are now beginning to arrive.

Chiffchaff’s seem to be in good numbers this year, with plenty singing at both Willington & Attenborough. Several were very obliging. A few Reed Warblers , several Common Whitethroat and Sedge Warbler and small numbers of Blackcap. Cetti’s Warbler were present at both sites. Willow Warbler seems to be thin on the ground.

We only had 2 singing birds.

Plenty of Common Tern, 3 Ruff, 1 Common Sandpiper and 1 Little Ringed Plover all at Attenborough. 3 Common Sandpiper at Willington.

I had five year ticks this morning so my year list creeps along to 182.
