A first summer Laughing Gull, a rare visitor from North America, was discovered at Belvide Reservoir, in Staffordshire during the late afternoon of 28th June 2020 and was still present on the morning of 30th June 2020. I decided to make the trip and was watching the bird for 2 hours in the afternoon.
The bird was seen at 08.29 on the 1st July 2020, when it departed to the SE .
A first record for Staffordshire. According to the Birds of Derbyshire there have been two records, the first in 1980 at Ogston and in 1995.
