STATUS Last recorded – 2023. In 1986 this species was classed as uncommon in Derbyshire. It is now widely distributed and is generally a common moth, with small populations existing across the county. A reasonable 2022 for this species with a number of single specimens trapped at various locations across the county.

ID POINTERS – The moth gets its name from the white abstract “80” markings visible in the central area of the forewing. There is a central cross-band through the forewing that holds the 80 markings. The wing colour has a purplish sheen to it.
 
FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing – mid-June – mid-July.
