70.023 BF1689 – Mullein Wave – Geometridae – Scopula marginepunctata

Mullein WaveGeometridae – Sterrhinae – Scopula marginepunctata – colour code

STATUSLast recorded 2023 – A possible immigrant. First recorded in Derbyshire 1995 from Chesterfield. This specimen represents the second county record, trapped Midway 15th September 2006. The state of this moth suggests that it maybe a migrant. Apologies for the quality of the photograph. Trapped in Long Eaton & Breaston in 2022, and again in 2023, it still remains a very scarce species in the county.

ID POINTERS – A small cream coloured moth intricately patterned with fine black and blue-grey spots and zig-zag marks and silvery and black scales. Blue-grey cross-lines.

FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing –  1st brood – May – July / 2nd brood – August  to mid September.
