Small Fan-footed Wave – Geometridae – Sterrhinae – Idaea biselata – colour code

STATUS – Resident in Derbyshire, locally common and widely distributed. Most common at a few localities in the south and east of the county.
 
ID POINTERS – A small cream coloured moth with a small distinctive black spot in the central fore and hind wing.  A broad darker outer cross band that is very wavy with a whitish thinner cross line running alongside its outer edge. The markings can be very variable in strength and colour, as in the form fimbriolata.
 
FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing – July – August.
