STATUS – A resident species, generally uncommon and local in its distribution in Derbyshire. It is mainly found in the south and central regions of the county with populations being wide spread.
 
ID POINTERS – Another attractive spring moth that is very distinctive. The ground colour is a pale mauve to violet, especially when freshly emerged. The forewing appears curved and rounded towards the tip giving the moth a certain “Jizz”. The central cross-band is pale but has a prominent black edge at the basal side and black “streamer” like markings trailing from the leading edge to the trailing edge of the wing, hence its name.
 
FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing between  April – May
