Purple Bar – Geometridae – Larentiinae – Cosmorhoe ocellata – colour code

STATUS – A resident species, that is widely distributed but generally uncommon in Derbyshire. It is mainly found in the Peak District. The population levels are lowest in the south and central areas of the county.
 
ID POINTERS – Very distinctive with ground colour being a creamy white. The obvious dark purple-black central cross-band is diagnostic.
 
FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing between  May – August
