STATUS – A resident and widely distributed species that is not uncommon in Derbyshire. More abundant in the south but never very numerous.
ID POINTERS – The white spots on this greyish coloured Pug are located at the trailing corner of both the forewing and hindwing. They can be quite conspicuous on well marked individuals. There is also a white spot on the top of the thorax, appearing as a crest and on the side of the abdomen. These are all diagnostic features.
As with a number of Pug species, melanic forms occur, which require close inspection to determine the ID.
