STATUS – A resident species widely distributed and generally locally common throughout Derbyshire. Greatest densities are found in the Trent Valley.
ID POINTERS –
There are two forms of this large Pug that is reasonable straight forward to identify. The typical form, subfulvata, has large orange patches in the central area of each forewing that contrasts with the grey-brown leading and outer edges.
The form cognata is predominantly found in the north of England and Scotland. The orange patches are much reduced and has a number of whitish cross-lines running through a more grey coloured wing.
FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing May – July – August.
