V Moth Geometridae – Ennominae – Macaria wauaria – colour code

STATUS – Generally uncommon in Derbyshire, despite being recorded from all areas of the county. Associated with allotments and gardens where there are current bushes.
 
ID POINTERS – The diagnostic feature is a black V mark on the greyish-brown forewing. A large triangular shaped moth at rest. There are also three other black marks along the leading edge of the forewing.
 
FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing June – August
