STATUS – Widely distributed and locally abundant.Occurs in all areas of the county and is particularly associated with woodlands and waste ground where bracken occurs.
 
ID POINTERS – An unmistakable moth that holds its forewings back covering the hind wings. The hind wings are a silvery-brown colour with a pale cross-line. The forewings are a chocolate bronze brown with a pair of dark silver-brown and pale edged cross-lines running diagonally through the forewing.
 
FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing May – June
