 STATUS – A resident species in Derbyshire that is common and widely distributed. Favours woodland and hedgerows in all areas of the county.
 
 ID POINTERS – A triangular shaped autumn flying moth, that rests with wings open and flat. The moth is variable in colour but has several distinguishing features. A black spot in the centre forewing close to the leading edge. A broad central cross-band edged with an irregular shaped black line either side. A pale panel to the trailing edge of the forewing. The forewing ranges from orange-brown to off white. Female is flightless.
 
 FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing October – December
