STATUS – Resident, widely distributed and fairly common but local in lowland Derbyshire. It is most common in ancient woods south of the Trent Valley and in scattered areas of the Derwent Valley. Not recorded in the northern areas of the county.
 
ID POINTERS – A grey-brown moth that rests with slightly rounded wings open and flat. Has four distinct blotches along the leading edge of the forewing, with the inner and outer spurring off weak cross-lines. 
 
FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing May – June
