Alder Kitten – Notodontidae – Notodontinae – Furcula bicuspis – colour code

STATUS A resident species that is uncommon but well established in some areas of Derbyshire. Recorded each year in small numbers. It is scarce in the lowlands but has been recorded from the south of the county.

ID POINTERS –  Told from the other Kittens by the central cross-band and lines on the forewing which are a rich blackish-grey. The cross-band being “pinched in” at the leading edge.

FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing May – June
