Pale Prominent – Notodontidae – Notodontinae – Pterostoma palpina – colour code

STATUS – A resident species that is generally uncommon and locally distributed in small numbers throughout South Derbyshire. Generally scarce and sporadic in other areas of the county.

ID POINTERS – The moth is fairly diagnostic. Looks very much like a piece of broken wood. The most obvious feature are the large up-tilted palps at the front and the two tails tufts at the rear of the body

FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing July – August.
