Chocolate TipNotodontidae – Pygaerinae – Clostera curtula – colour code

STATUS – A resident species that is generally very rare in Derbyshire and seems to be almost totally confined to the south of the county. It has been expanding its range within the southern region since 2007.

ID POINTERS – An unmistakable species that gets its name from the well defined chocolate coloured blotch at the tip of the forewing. The blotch stops abruptly at the outermost cross-line which distinguishes it from the Scarce Chocolate Tip whose blotch extends beyond it.
