STATUS – A new species for Derbyshire in 1995. Not seen again until 1999 and was recorded from two sites in 2006. The distribution of this species has now become more widespread, and it appears this moth has established itself in the county, as well as into other areas of the Midlands. 

ID POINTERS – A very distinctive little moth that gets its name from the small orange-red collar at the base of the head. The only British footman that has totally sooty black wings.

FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing June – July.
