72.043 BF2049 – Buff Footman – Erebidae – Eilema depressa

Buff Footman – Erebidae – Arctiinae – Eilema depressa – colour code

STATUS – A new species for Derbyshire in 1997, since then only a scattering of records. Seems to be in small isolated colonies and still very localised. It is mainly recorded from the central and southern regions of the county.

ID POINTERS – The pale greyish white of the male with orange-yellow fringes to both wings and a pale yellow stripe along the basal third of the forewing is usually distinctive. The female is slightly larger with browner coloured wings. The wings are long and narrower than similar Buff Footman.

FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing July – August.
