STATUS – A resident species in Derbyshire that is widely distributed and locally common. Although present in all areas of the county, it primarily inhabits areas of wasteland, disused railways and urban gardens. It is uncommon in rural areas of the county.

ID POINTERS – Unmistakable.The patterning on the upper wing is so variable that no two moths are the same.

FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing July – August.
