72.029 BF2068 – Scarlet Tiger – Erebidae – Callimorpha dominula

Scarlet Tiger – Erebidae – Arctiinae – Callimorpha dominula – colour code

STATUSLast recorded June 2022 – A rare species in Derbyshire with the first record from Ripley 2012, then 1 in the Heanor area in 2014, a further 3 in a churchyard in the Heanor area in 2015 and now this one found in a garden on 5th July 2016. So a total of around 5 records. It looks like the species is expanding it’s range and it also looks as though there is a small colony around the Ripley, Heanor area. Several recorded in various locations in the Trent Valley during 2020 including one in Melbourne in my garden moth trap overnight on 25th June 2020, further confirmation of the species colonising in the county.
