Lesser Yellow Underwing Noctuidae – Noctuinae – Noctua comes – colour code

STATUSA resident species that is widely distributed and generally common in all areas of Derbyshire. 

ID POINTERS – A smaller version of the Large Yellow Underwing with the exception of the small black spots near to the wing tip on forewing and a black crescent shaped mark on the hindwing. The ground colour is a pale brown to a pale grey-brown, but can be very variable.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing July – September.
