Cabbage Moth Noctuidae – Hadeninae – Mamestra brassicae – colour code

STATUS – A resident that is widely distributed and common in Derbyshire. Although found across all areas it is most common and numerous in the south of the county.

ID POINTERS – Most noticeable feature is the chalky white kidney mark that is bordered with white. The ground colour is a dark greyish brown with pale sandy blotches.The darker outer cross-line has a prominent “W” mark towards the middle.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing May – September
