Varied Coronet Noctuidae – Hadeninae – Hadena compta – colour code

STATUS – First recorded in Derbyshire in 1985. Despite few records during 1990’s, it was described in 2007 as being common and wide spread in the county.

ID POINTERS –  A fairly distinctive looking small black and white moth. A prominent white central cross band that meets the trailing edge of the wing, bordered either side with marbled blackish-grey bands.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing June – July
