The Lychnis Noctuidae – Hadeninae – Hadena bicruris – colour code

STATUS – A resident that is fairly common and widely distributed in Derbyshire. The moth is found in low densities where the food plant, Campion, is growing at sites scattered across the county.

ID POINTERS – Unlike The Campion, this moth is fairly dull grey-brown. The oval and kidney mark are separate (Linked in The Campion) and the outer cross-line is zig-zagged only across final half towards leading edge where the line fades and finishes. 

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing May – September
