STATUS A resident that is fairly common and widely distributed in Derbyshire. Recorded from all areas of the county except the Peak Grit. Most numerous in the southern lowlands.

ID POINTERS – The moth gets its name from the conspicuous white oval shaped mark next to the kidney mark (Bright-eye) and the dark brown cross lines, one inner and one outer (Brown-line) making this summer moth fairly easy to identify. The ground colour is a warm rusty brown.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing July – August
