STATUS A resident that is widely distributed but not common in Derbyshire. Observed in all areas of the county, except the Peak Grit area. Most common in well wooded sites in the lowland areas.

ID POINTERS – A quiet distinctive looking moth that is uniquely marked. Two large pale grey circular disks in the central area of the wing tip are obvious. Also a large pale grey “dart shape” runs half-way down the forewing from the base. The rest of the forewing is a charcoal black. 

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing May – July.
