STATUS A resident that is widely distributed and common in Derbyshire. One of the few moth species that can be seen in every month of the year. Present in all areas of the county but highest numbers in the lowland areas.

ID POINTERS – An unmistakable moth especially at rest when the wings have deep folds and creases and are held horizontally to the body. Fresh individuals have a ground colour of olive green and pinkish brown but these colours quickly fade. The general ground colour is a straw-brown with a rusty brown central cross-band forming to triangular shapes.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing April – November.
