STATUS A resident that is common and widely distributed in Derbyshire. Present in all areas of the county and in two colour forms, a reddish brick-red to deep orange- brown, and the yellow-brown, yellow-grey, olive-grey or grey-brown form var.pallida which is very frequent.

ID POINTERS – A small and thick-set moth. The diagnostic feature is a dark central bar along the forewing. The central cross-lines that edge the central bar are white at each end. The oval and kidney marks are pale and obvious.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing June – July.
