STATUS – A resident that is fairly common in the woodlands of the upland gritstone areas, where it can be common amongst the Rowan.
 
 ID POINTERS –  Characterised by a pair of blackish spikes projecting from the centre of the post median cross-line. Ground colour is usually a whitish-grey. There is a dark form bradyi, where forewing is a dark-grey and most of the markings are obscured. Waved Carpet (Hydrelia sylvata) is similar but with cross-lines less distinct and lacking the pair of spikes.
