Haworth’s Minor  Noctuidae – Xyleninae Celaena haworthii – colour code

STATUS A resident that is locally common on the upland moors of North Derbyshire, where the food plant, Cotton Grass, grows.

ID POINTERS –  A distinctive moth that has a fairly blunt appearance, with forewings somewhat square-ended. Colour is a reddish brown, can be pinkish brown or purplish brown. The kidney mark is whitish and conspicuous and there are two creamy whitish streaks extending from the kidney mark towards the outer wing edge and wing base. These features are diagnostic.                                   

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing  August.- September
